Poppy's Slow Mail Club

Do you remember when getting a letter through the post felt like an event?

Not a bill. Not a flyer. An actual letter - from a pen pal, a relative, a friend who lived down the road and wrote to you anyway, just because they could.

You'd read it slowly. Then probably again. And then you'd keep it, because letters were always meant to be kept.

That's what this is.

Once a month, a real handwritten letter - written by me, addressed to you - arrives through your door. That's the whole heart of it. Everything else is a bonus.

And there are bonuses.

This will vary every month - of course, but subscribers also get weekly book reviews, monthly Spotify playlists inspired by that month's letter, first looks at letters available to buy, and occasional musings on analogue life, creativity, and whatever's been rattling around in my head.

There is absolutely no doomscrolling allowed, because that never helped any of us.

There's no urgency, either - read everything in your own time, in your own way.

This is probably the right place for you if you've ever sent a handwritten letter, wanted to, or just quietly miss the days when communication had a little more ceremony to it.

£7.50 a month. One letter through your door. Full access to everything on Substack.

  • "I was genuinely so excited when the envelope appeared through the door, and it only got more exciting to open it up! The letter is written so beautifully, and I love the activity this month - such a mindful and intentional thing to do to help at a difficult time in the future - love it!
The postcard is a really nice touch and it's made the whole letter feel much more personal, bringing a sense of you into it. I'm always a sucker for a sticker but honestly this is sooo cute and I'm already arguing in my head about where to use it!
Well done, a total hit! X"

  • "Honestly you make my day with the letters!! I was looking forward to it arriving and kept looking out....They're the perfect length. I see them as a gentle reminder to refocus and like the encouragement to go outside etc is so useful because it's easy to forget to do that kind of thing."

  • "My slow mail club letter arrived this afternoon and I love it! It's so lovely to get a letter in the post, and it's like being given permission to take a 10 mins break to grab a drink, sit and read and then colour poppy :) The contents of the letter felt personal and gave room for reflection and thought.
I love that there's a little activity included, the drawing is so sweet and I'm a huge advocate in mindful activities (I often get people at work to 'help' me to colour when I can sense they need to talk but can't find the words, and it works wonders).
    Thank you!"
